Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency on Sunday in the provincial capital Voinjama, Kamara named Barkedou, Bongondou and Wobanor as towns that have been affected by the deadly virus.

Although Commissioner Kamara did not indicate the number of Ebola deaths and suspected cases, he noted that the spread of the disease in the district was “very alarming and needed urgent attention.”

He said both the Government and citizens need to concert efforts to contain further spread of the virus, according to the Liberia News Agency.

The Quardu Gboni Commissioner warned citizens against denying the existence of the disease and to abide by the preventive measures put in place by the Health Ministry as a way of preventing further spread of the disease.

He vowed that his administration will continue to provide Ebola awareness on radio stations, in Mosques and churches as well as markets and other public places to sensitize the citizens on preventive measures against Ebola.

Mr. Kamara regretted the number of citizens dying from the disease in the district and appealed to relevant Government agencies and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene and help save lives in the district.
