The site is a mile away from the Gbarnga-Monrovia highway and is in the vicinity of the Leper Colony in Suakoko District, Bong County.

Making the disclosure Monday at the regular briefing of the Ebola Response Task Force at the Phebe Hospital Compound in Suakoko District, Bong County Development Superintendent Anthony Sheriff said: “Despite the lack of money in the coffers of the county we have done everything possible to clear the site with the help of some partners.”

Sheriff frowned at a story carried Monday in the media which claimed the Superintendent of Bong County was doing nothing in response to the Ebola outbreak in the county.  

He said county authorities will remain focused and committed to the work of the local Ebola Task Force and the County Health Team (CHT) to ensure that the disease is eliminated from the county.

Meanwhile, CHT has lauded the Health Ministry and Cuttington University (CU) for supplying it with 50 pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), chlorine, assorted supplies, 125 burial bags and rice, while CU contributed 50 gallons of fuel each to Phebe Hospital and for the site clearing.

In a related development, the CHT has reported that four of the five specimens sent to Monrovia last week have proven positive, while one of them was negative.

It has also recorded five new suspected cases in newly-quarantine Balakitela Town in Salala District where the Town Chief is reported to have escaped to Monrovia.

Recently there were four household deaths in Balaketela Town, following which county health officials contacted the police to quarantine the town for fear of the virus been spread to nearby towns and villages. 

The CHT also informed the gathering that of the three community deaths over the weekend, two were in Gbarnga and the other in Sinyea community, behind Cuttington University.
