He said the ministry will visit the prison roster to acquaint itself with the records of inmates who have stayed beyond the statutory period as well as those with billable charges and good behavior.
The Bong County Attorney told the Liberia News Agency Monday following the opening of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court for the August Term that the measure is intended to prevent the spread of the Ebola disease even while it has not entered the prison.
He noted the danger the 131 inmates face crowded in cells at a time when Ebola is permeating nearly all sectors of the Liberian society.
Responding to the change of outgoing Judge Boima Kontoe to his successor Judge A. Blamo Dixon, Wennah described the rotation of judges as vital to the legal profession, noting: “I am confident of Judge Dixon’s neutrality and is sure of the professional adjudication of cases during this August Term of Court.
Meanwhile Atty. Wennah has frowned at carvers of the “New Jury Law”, describing it as problematic because ‘it puts prosecutors in a chaotic situation.’
“While our prosecuting arm has been increased by the deployment of two attorneys, I call on justice actors to please use alternative means of solving cases that are of low gravity,” he pleaded.
