MONROVIA, August 12 (LINA) – The Grand Coalition of Liberian Organizations (GRANDCOALIO) has donated 1,440 gallons of fuel and a cartoon of Ebola awareness flyers to 48 community radio stations in the country.

The donation was made at a press conference held at the offices of the Liberia Business Association (LIBA) in Paynesville on Tuesday.

Presenting the items to the President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Abdullai Kamara, GRANDCOALIO chairman and President of LIBA, Dee-Maxwell S. Kemayah, said the gesture was the organization’s way of buttressing government’s effort to contain the Ebola virus.

Kemayah said GRANDCOALIO believes communication is power and as such supporting the 48 community radio stations will help in mitigating the rapid spread of the disease.

The LIBA official cautioned Liberians not to take the issue of Ebola lightly as the deadly virus does not discriminate, adding: “This fight should not be left to the Government alone, but should be the collective effort of each and every Liberian.”

Kemayah urged the radio stations to use the fuel to disseminate awareness and sensitization messages on the Ebola virus.

Receiving the items, PUL president Kamara thanked GRANDCOALIO for the gesture and assured that the radio stations will get their fair share of the fuel donated to the fight against the Ebola virus.

GRANDCOALIO is the second largest local organization that comprises 28 groups, including LIBA, Liberia Marketing Association (LMA), Liberia Labor Congress and National Health Association of Liberia, among others.
