Fombai, who is spokesman of the Council in Grand Cape Mount, said conducting certain traditional practices in the midst of the Ebola outbreak has the propensity to spread the disease.

He explained that during Sande and Poro society activities, certain rituals and the large gathering of people in venues in the bushes could undermine preventive measures against the Ebola virus.

Fombai made the statement in an interview with the Liberia News Agency during the County Ebola Task Force meeting held recently in Tienii Town, Garwula District.

He observed that the fight against the spread of the deadly virus should be the primary concern of every Liberian and not only the government.

He said it was time for traditional leaders, youths, elders, students and women groups to get involved in the prevention process so that the disease will be won by the government.

He said paramount, clan and town chiefs in the county should set up monitoring and mobilization teams that will move from village to village to spread Ebola prevention messages.
