MONROVIA, August 25 (LINA) – Dr. Abraham Borbor, one of the three Liberian medical doctors to whom the experimental ZMAPP drug was being administered, has died.

Information Minister LewisBrown told UNMIL radio Monday that Dr. Borbor, who was deputy chief medical director of the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Monrovia, died after he started showing signs of improvement.

“He was walking around yesterday and the doctors were hopeful that he would make a full recovery,” Brown said.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Brown has disclosed that four of the protesters who recently broke into and ransacked the Ebola Quarantine Center in the West Point Township have tested positive with the Ebola virus.
The protesters, who said there was no Ebola in Liberia, stormed and ransacked the Ebola Quarantine Center and made away with bloodstained mattresses and bed sheets after chasing away patients who were quarantined there.
At the same time, the Information Minister has disclosed that one protester who was wounded during confrontation with the police in West Point last week has died.
On government's efforts to sensitize residents about the Ebola disease, Minister Brown said community residents are now actively involved in the dissemination of Ebola messages.
Minister Brown told UNMIL radio that government has conducted awareness workshops in various communities to determine the response of citizens, indicating that the people are now better situated in the fight against the spread of the virus.

He disclosed that Vice President Joseph N. Boakai will Monday visit another Ebola Holding Centre in Dolo’s Town, while President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will visit the West Point quarantine Ebola centre.

Minister Brown said government has set up a team to conduct investigation into the skirmishes in West Point after the area was placed in quarantine last week that led to the death of one person and wounding of several others.”

Meanwhile, Brown has said food distribution in the West Point Township, which saw long queues and many not getting supplies, is now in order after the leadership put in place mechanisms to enhance the process.
