Dr. Joseph Boakai explained that the lack of protective gears at clinics is threatening the lives of health workers in the wake of the Ebola outbreak.
Dr. Boakai made the statement at the weekend in an interview with the Liberia News Agency at the Peace Home Medical Clinic near Neezoe Junction in the Monrovia suburb of Paynesville.
He indicated that it was unfortunate that his clinic had to refuse some patients on Saturday morning due to lack of protective gears for health workers assigned there.
He noted that Liberians are dying from diseases other than the Ebola virus because health workers without protective gears are refusing to treat patients unprotected.
Dr. Boakai stressed the need for government and international health bodies to help provide protective gears to clinics across Liberia to enable them attend to patients, whether they are Ebola suspected patients or not.
