MONROVIA, August 25 (LINA) - A youth group called Youth Against Ebola says the community-based approach is crucial in the campaign to contain the Ebola virus in Liberia.

The group’s Chairman, Ambrose Kun, said when community residents fully get involved in the fight against the disease, Liberians will certainly succeed in eradicating the virus from their country in the not too distant future.
Kun was speaking to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Monday when his group embarked on an Ebola sensitization campaign in the Day Break Mouth Open Community on Barnesville Road, outside Monrovia.
He said community residents’ participation in the fight will make greater impact since they are the ones who are directly affected by the disease.
He noted that although national government has a significant role to play in efforts to combat the Ebola virus, it is incumbent upon community residents to buttress government’s efforts and take ownership of the campaign.
Kun asserted that the fight against Ebola transcends political, religious, ethnic or gender background, and as such, it requires a holistic approach instead of leaving it with government alone.
According to him, the organization, which comprises 20 young people of both genders, was established in July, 2014 to beef up government’s efforts in creating awareness about the prevention and spread of the killer disease.
