Minister Brown explained that the quarantine of a community would depend on the situation, including the number of Ebola cases and also advice from health authorities relating to the health problem in that community.
The Information Minister made the clarification Wednesday in a telephone interview on the Liberia Broadcasting System’s Super Morning Show.
He indicated that quarantine requires several measures to be put in place to ensure effective quarantine of communities, but noted that the situation in West Point Township is improving because the people are taking ownership of the process.
He pointed out that people in other communities should not panic about quarantining them, but should rather observe preventive measures and go about their normal activities.
Minister Brown stressed that government has no intention to quarantine all communities in the country when it is not necessary, but said if the need arises government will not hesitate to do so.
