MONROVIA, August 27 (LINA) -The Southeastern Legislative Caucus has recommended the establishment of Ebola testing and treatment facilities in the southeast of the country.

The Chairman of the Southeastern Legislative Caucus, Maryland County Senior Senator John Ballout, also stressed the need for the region to be quarantined as a proactive measure to prevent the spread of the deadly disease there.

According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA), Senator Ballout told a news conference at the Capitol Building Wednesday that it would be prudent for the National Ebola Task Force to embark on a robust sensitization campaign about the virus in the region.

Ballout said the Task Force should partner with various community radio stations and civil society organizations in Southeastern Liberia to transmit the facts about the Ebola virus in local dialects.

He also underscored the need to urgently provide logistical and technical support to all hospitals and health centers in the region.

Ballout further urged the Task Force to make provision for the smooth conveyance of essential goods and services to the region in order to minimize the escalating cost of living facing the people.

Meanwhile, the Southeastern Legislative Caucus has expressed thanks to the Government of Liberia and partners for measures being taken to contain the Ebola virus in the country.

Flanked by the Secretary of the Caucus, Grand Gedeh District #3 Representative, Alex Grant, Chairman Ballout further called on residents of the region to limit their movement and comply with all measures put in place by the National Ebola Task Force.

The Southeastern Counties are Grand Kru, Grand Gedeh, Sinoe, River Gee and Maryland.
