“If we win this fight, we win it for ourselves and our country. We will be able to return to all our normal activities, to get back into business again and promote development and together we will continue to improve the situation of our country,” the Liberian leader said.

She also called on citizens to recognize the courage and strength the country now possesses to fight against the Ebola disease and transform the current “Ebola is real,” slogan to “Together we will beat Ebola.”

President Sirleaf made the statement Thursday at the Ebola Command Center in the compound of the General Services Agency, when she received a consignment of assorted food and non-food items on behalf of the Ebola National Task Force donated by the Indian Community in Liberia.

She said in times of difficulties the potentials in people are often exhibited when they display their best efforts, noting, “There is one thing about times when one faces difficulties, that is when it brings out the best in people.”

“It is often easy to come out with lots of criticisms, but it will be more of a courageous and a patriotic thing to do when someone extends a helping hand, the fight against Ebola requires the participation, involvement and support of each and every Liberian,” President Sirleaf said.

The President lauded citizens, government, local and international partners and institutions in the country that have extended helping hands to Liberia through cash and kind donations as the country fights to eradicate the deadly disease.
