Lawmaker Submits Bill For Zoe-Geh Training Center

MONROVIA, August 30 (LINA) -Nimba County Representative Worlea-Saywah Dunah has submitted to the House of Representatives for enactment a bill to establish a vocational training center in Zoe-Geh Statutory District in Nimba County.

 

In a letter to Plenary, Dunah noted that when established, the center will cater to over 120, 000 inhabitants, of which youths constitute about 65 per cent, quoting the 2008 National Population Census Report.

According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA), the letter dated August 27, 2014 and addressed to House Speaker, J. Alexander Tyler, was read in Session on Thursday.

Dunah said the center will offer courses in carpentry, plumbing, baking and tailoring, among others, adding that such will empower the young people in the township with useful life skills, thereby making them self-sufficient and employable.

He disclosed that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has constructed a compound for the Township which facility has been made available to house the center when the bill is enacted.

Following the reading of the letter, Plenary forwarded it to the Committees on Education, Ways, Means and Finance as well as Judiciary for scrutiny with the mandate to report in two weeks.
