BUCHANAN, August.31 (LINA) -The Grand Bassa County Ebola Task Force has released an update of Ebola cases in the county, recording a total of six confirmed deaths.

Briefing journalists at his Administration Building office in Buchanan on Friday, Assistant Superintendent for Development and spokesman of the Task Force, Adoni Z. Greaves, said this number of deaths occurred from July 6 to August 29, 2014.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Greaves disclosed that 33 samples were taken to the Liberia Institute of Biomedical Research (LIBR) in Margibi County for testing, constituting suspected and probable cases of which 15 are males and 17 females.

He disclosed that of the 33 suspected cases, nine cases proved negative, out of which four are males and five females.

The Assistant Superintendent for Development and spokesman for the Task Force said 20 are suspected and 13 probable cases.

He said total cases confirmed between July 6 and August 29 are 11 positive, which includes 6 males and 5 females.

The Task Force spokesman said the four isolated cases at treatment center were all females.

Meanwhile, Greaves has cited the major challenge confronting the Task Force as inadequate logistics and finance to support various districts.

He added that the most challenging issue is the denial by some citizens that the Ebola disease exists.
