MONROVIA, September 4 (LINA) - The Liberian Government says cumulativesuspected, probable and confirmed Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) cases in the country now stands at 1,763 for the period May 29 to September 1, 2014.

Giving an Ebola update at the Ministry of Information daily briefing Wednesday, Information Minister Lewis G. Brown said total confirmed cases now stand at 406, while probable and suspected cases are 845 and 512 respectively.
The report also put the total number of cumulative EVD patients being held in quarantine at 286, with 220 in Montserrado and 66 are in Lofa counties.
The Liberia News Agency quotes Minister Brown as saying  the total number of patients discharged as of September 1 remains at 25.
According to the report, the total deaths in confirmed, probable and suspected cases is 1,004, with 390 confirmed, 379 probable and 235 as suspected.
The Information Minister put the cumulative deaths among health workers at 150, with 74 confirmed.
At the same time, Liberia’s case fatality rate in confirmed and probable EVD incidence stands at 61.5 percent. Case fatality rate is the proportion of deaths within a designated population of cases over the course of a prevailing disease.
The report said Montserrado County has shown significant improvement in contact tracing at 877 people, which constitutes 97 percent of 905 contacts under follow-up were identified and seen by the health team.LINA WSG/TSS/PTK
