Making the donation Thursday at the Police Headquarters in Monrovia, WLCU Assistant Administrator Abdallah Chihni said the donation was one on many by the union to the police.

Presenting the items to Police Inspector General Chris Massaquoi, the Lebanese Ambassador to Liberia, Mr. Bashir Sarkis, said “as a body we see the need to enhance the capacity of the Liberia National Police in their endeavor to fight the deadly Ebola virus in the country.”

He commended the police force for the high level of professionalism and dedication they have demonstrated in the performance of their duties.

He noted that this is the fifth the Lebanese community was donating towards the fight against Ebola since the outbreak of the disease in the country in March this year.

He assured the Lebanese Community’s continued commitment to this national cause, saying, “We stand ready to go beyond the call of duty to wipe out the deadly Ebola Virus from Liberia.”

Receiving the items, Police Inspector General Massaquoi thanked the Lebanese community for the gesture and assured them that the vehicle and motorbikes will be used to fight the Ebola outbreak in the country.

In a related development, the American Embassy near here Thursday presented US$100,000 worth of spare parts to the Police to be used for the repair of their vehicles.

The U.S Embassy also presented six cartons of detergents, two cartons of nose masks, one carton of face masks and ten cartons of plastic gloves to the police to enable them fight against the spread of the virus in the country.

Deputy Police Director for Administration Williams Mulbah noted that the American Embassy has always made donations to the police to enhance its capacity to perform its duties.
