He said this was part of efforts to ensure that people with minor, curable illnesses get medical care in the absence of adequate healthcare workers at health posts.

Since the Ebola outbreak in March, a number of health workers have abandoned duty in the county for various reasons, including fear of contracting the virus, hazardous work environment and lack of incentives commensurate with the risk.

Meanwhile, a number of towns in Fuamah District, Bong County have been quarantined, with market days prohibited.

Also, movements in Mawah and Haindii, two major towns in the district, have been restricted after 7:00 p.m., according to Bong County Superintendent Selena Polson Mappy.

Mappy told citizens of the district at a meeting in Handii on Wednesday that the restrictions are some of many measures she is contemplating to reduce the mounting wave of Ebola cases in the district.

She told residents that adherence to the new measures and those already announced by the Health Ministry will help eradicate the Ebola virus from the country.
