LACC Director of Communication, Ben Kolaco, told the Liberia News Agency Wednesday that the decision is intended to prepare the Commission in advance for any eventuality and also help to avoid the misapplication of Ebola funds.
Recently, LACC issued a release saying that it has put in place a mechanism to monitor and, where necessary, prosecute individuals who misuse money intended for the Ebola fight.
Kolaco stressed that the pronouncement is necessary because it would help put individuals on guard while handling the funds.
The LACC official said donor funds are to be used to fight the Ebola epidemic and help make Liberia Ebola-free, adding, “It is not intended for anyone’s enrichment.”
He noted that the clarification was also necessary because there have been calls from several people interested in knowing whether there has been any official report to the LACC about fraud.
