UNOCHA in a statement Wednesday said it has so far raised US$267 million of this amount to support the Ebola response effort in the three countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

In a related development, the UN has approved US$49 million for the newly established UN Ebola Emergency Response in West Africa.
The UN Committee on Administration & Budget issues Tuesday adopted a resolution allocating US$ 49.9 million for the West African mission.

The UN in a statement said the establishment of the Ebola mission is the first step to containing the outbreak, which must be further strengthened by a wide range of actions and measures at all levels.

Established on September 19, 2014, the mission has already deployed personnel at its headquarters in Accra, Ghana and has offices in affected countries, including Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
