VOINJAMA, November 11 (LINA)-An official of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Angie Yankon, has challenged health workers in Lofa County to use knowledge acquired from training to create Ebola awareness in their various communities.

Yankon made the call over the weekend when she addressed 15 health workers who have completed a three-day Ebola case management training workshop in Voinjama, Lofa County.

The training which covered alternative foster care and psychosocial first aid was intended to build the capacity of health workers in the fight against Ebola, according to the Liberia News Agency.

Yankon who was one of the facilitators, also reminded the participants that the citizens depend on the health workers for solutions in health matters.

She stressed the need to work closely with their various community leaders in carrying out more Ebola awareness and sensitization campaigns on the preventive measures against the virus.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, David Jallah, one of the participants, expressed gratitude to authorities of the Ministry of Health and World Learning for the training.

He noted that the training will enable them to carry out more Ebola preventive awareness in their communities, especially to children in rural and urban Lofa County.

The workshop was sponsored by World Learning, a non-governmental organization working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in training health workers across the county in the fight against Ebola.
