Joseph expressed optimism that when effective communication is used to disseminate clear and concise information as Liberia struggles against the Ebola virus , the country will in no time get over the current health crisis.
The CEMESP official made the statement at a Civil Society and Media Leadership Workshop aimed at strengthening media partnership to roll back Ebola held at a local hotel in Monrovia on Saturday.
Joseph described the media as the “only true voice and source which many people rely on for credible information because its influence has a tangible impact” in advancing the country from the health crisis.
He admonished media practitioners to make the relevant editorial judgment in reporting issues relative to the Ebola crisis, noting that “ clear reportage, especially those containing preventive messages, are key to the country’s survival.”
The workshop was organized by CEMESP in partnership with the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and the Ministry of Information with sponsorship from USAID, UNCEF, Carter Center and UNMIL.
It brought together senior editors and reporters based in Monrovia and rural Liberia.
