MONROVIA, November 24 (LINA) - The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Hans Docter, has extolled Liberia for its achievement in the quest to eradicate the Ebola virus from the country.

Ambassador Docter said the world is impressed with the level of success made by Liberia in responding swiftly to the health crisis, and stressed the need for other nations to help Liberia and other Ebola-stricken nations to eradicate the virus rather than isolating them.

He made the statement Monday at the Free Port of Monrovia when the Dutch Government and other European Union countries delivered a consignment of medical equipment and ambulances valued at 3.6 million Euros to Liberia.

The envoy said the donation, which also includes a self-contained Mobile Laboratory, several logistical Land Cruiser Jeeps, a Mercedes Vito Fire fighter truck, body bags, respiratory masks, beds and mattresses, is intended to further increase the nation’s response effort against the virus.

He said the Dutch government is committed to working with Liberia during and after the nation’s health emergency in an effort to strengthen the country’s economy through continuous and regular trade activities.

The Dutch Ambassador said the Karel Doorman, the largest Dutch Navy vessel which brought in the supplies, is expected to return to Liberia in December with another consignment of medical supplies to further boost to the response efforts against the deadly disease.
