MONROVIA, December 4 (LINA) – Information Minister Lewis Brown has urged his compatriots to drive the elimination of the Ebola virus from the country even as the world is helping the country.

Brown made the statement when he addressed the Ministry of Information news conference held in the ministry’s conference room Thursday during which he reiterated government’s call for a united effort against the Ebola virus.

He said the vigilance Liberians once exhibited against the disease is dying away gradually thereby possibly giving room for the resurfacing of the virus in recent days.

According to Brown, the outbreak of the virus has paralyzed the nation’s economy and impeded other major development projects of government.

He said statistics show that the virus was leaving Monrovia for rural Liberia, so Liberians must act quickly to arrest the situation by abiding by preventive measures.

”We must stop it, we cannot afford to be complacent and be the last minute victims,” he added.
