Chief Tarnue Baysah Tellewoyan said Lofians should accept that Ebola is still existing in the neighboring countries of Guinea and Sierra Leone, and stressed the need for citizens to come together as a unifying force in battling the deadly disease.

PC Baysah Tellewoyan made the call in an interview with the Liberia News Agency on his farm in Voinjama district Sunday.

Paramount Chief Tellewoyan stressed that it was time for Lofians to spread the message of the existence of the disease, as part of preventive measures against the Ebola virus in the county.

He called on the civil society, the media, religious and traditional leaders and youth groups, among others, to join in the fight against
the Ebola virus, adding, “This is one of the most important ways we can protect ourselves, our families and our communities.”

The chief also called on Lofians to address the issue of denial, noting that it is one of the ways the disease rapidly spreads, adding,
“stop saying Ebola does not exist, because it is not good for the county and the country as a whole”.

He said it was the time for people to critically examine the issue that Ebola once killed the people of Lofa, noting that “it cannot be seen by the naked eyes and hence the citizens must be mindful and follow the preventive measures.”
