NATUPAW Secretary General Tye K.S Jaye said to effectively fight against the spread of the Ebola disease, market women should be trained to spread Ebola preventive messages in market places, adding, “it will help eliminate the virus 100 percent from Liberia.”
According to the Liberia News Agency, the NATUPAW Secretary General made the call Monday when he donated anti-Ebola materials to some marketers in central Monrovia to enhance the fight against the Ebola virus.
Presenting the items, NATUPAW Secretary General Jaye said the items were given to NATUPAW by its affiliate organization, Construction and Civil Engineering Staff Association of Nigeria (CCESAN) based in the capital Abuja.
He observed that since the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia, women have been most affected by the virus due to their role as caretakers in homes and marketplaces.
Jaye emphasized that until the country is declared Ebola free, Liberians should continue to observe the preventive measures outlined by health authorities to eradicate the disease.
Receiving the items, the head of the marketers, Mr. Maxwell Doe, lauded NATUPAW for identifying with them and assured that the items would be properly distributed and used.
