MONROVIA, December 31 (LINA) - More than 50 motorcyclists in Monrovia and its environs have been trained to join government in spreading Ebola prevention messages.
According to the Project Officer of the Angie Brooks International Center (ABIC), Hilary K. D. Gbegeah, motorcyclists are essential partners and can play a key role in eradicating Ebola from Liberia.

Gbegeah made the observation Tuesday at the end of a one-day workshop for motorcyclists on Ebola prevention organized by the ABIC in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The workshop was held at the Monrovia City Hall.

He noted that motorcyclists have become one of the major transportation arms in the country and they should champion the fight against Ebola around the nation.

He said the training of motorcyclists is intended to instill in them knowledge about the new approach to combat Ebola, and cautioned that despite the gains Liberia has made to eradicate the disease, people should not be complacent.

Meanwhile, UNDP Assistant Country Director for Programs, Dorsloa Farcarthy, has assured UNDP's continued support to government‘s effort to eradicate the Ebola virus from Liberia.

He said the fight against Ebola requires the collective effort of all Liberians, no matter their status in the society, noting, “Ebola does not pick and choose who to infect, so everybody should adhere to the preventive measures at all times.”
