TUBMANBURG, Jan 6 (LINA) - Klay District Commissioner Alfred Zinnah has disclosed that five projects were completed in the district in 2013.

The projects are the Golodee Town Clinic, Klay Town Hall, Guie Town Bridge, as well as the road connecting Klay District to Suehn Mecca District through D.C. Town and the Rally Time Road connecting Guie Town, Suehn Mecca District and Bopolu.

Zinnah said the roads were built by the Ministry of Public Works, while the Guie Town Bridge was constructed by Western Cluster Limited.

According to Commissioner Zinnah, funds for the clinic and Town Hall came from the Bomi County and Social Development Funds.

The County Development Fund is allocated from the National Budget for local projects, while the Social Development Fund constitutes social corporate responsibility contributions made to the county in whi ch a concession operates.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Monday, the Klay District Commissioner put the cost of the town hall at US$20,000, but did not give the cost of the clinic.

Commissioner Zinnah, however, regretted that since the completion of the Golodee Clinic a year ago, it has not been opened to the public due to lack of health workers.

He said the County Health Team informed him that providing health workers for the clinic was not in their Health Plan for now and that there was no budget for it.

The Commissioner has meanwhile disclosed that US$200,000 has been earmarked for development projects in the district for the 2014 fiscal year.

According to Commissioner Zinnah, US$100,000 will be given to Teh Clan to construct a Chiefs Compound and renovate the multi-purpose building constructed by the UN Mission in Liberia.

He said the building will be used as a skills training center for youths of the clan.

Commissioner Zinnah said the balance US$100,000 will be turned over to Mana Clan to construct a junior high school, chiefs compound and a clinic.
