The workers made the decision Thursday at a meeting convened by Grand Gedeh County Superintendent, Peter L. Solo, who has been concerned about the continued closure of the station.
At the meeting, Superintendent Solo announced the suspension of station manager Mike Tetteh Dorue for six months, pending the release of the report of an ongoing forensic audit into the station's accounts.
He, however, clarified that Mr. Dorue will be paid during the period of the audit since no wrong- doing has yet been established.
It can be recalled that workers of SMILE FM Community Radio Station started a go-slow action two months ago, for what they referred to as improprieties on the part of the station manager.
Among other things, the workers cited the mismanagement of funds, lack of cooperation and delays in payment of stipends, as reasons for the strike action .
The workers were subsequently paid four months arrears, but insisted that the station manager steps down.
