Addressing the health workers at the hospital recently, Superintendent Gbowee said his office in collaboration with the County Health Officer is in sympathy with their plight, but urged them to go back to work.

He said health workers should know that the hospital is the only referral hospital in the entire county and as such, they should call off their strike action to save the lives of sick people who are taken to the hospital.

Superintendent Gbowee assured the health workers that as soon as they resume normal duties, he would convey their concerns to his boss, Internal Affairs Minister Morris M. Dukuly.

Superintendent Gbowee commended Dr. Trokon Washington who, despite the strike action, has continued to perform his normal duties to save lives of several patients taken to the hospital in critical conditions.

For his part, the head of Gbarpolu County Health Team, Dr. Anthony Tucker, told the health workers that while he sympathized with their plight, equally so, he is appealing to them to return to work.

Meanwhile, the Gbarpolu County health workers, through their spokesperson, Madam Mercy Harris, said that the health workers are prepared to return to work, but that the government through the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, should see reason to negotiate with their leadership, reinstate their dismissed colleagues, and release their salary checks and incentives.
