MONROVIA, June 15 (LINA) - The electrification of Maryland County under the West African Power Pool (WAPP) project is 80 percent complete, an official of the Liberia Electricity Cooperation (LEC) Maryland County branch has disclosed.

Mr. J. Karuah Dahn told the Liberia News Agency recently that four communities, including Rock Town, Cavalla, Fish Town and Whole Graway, along with Harper, the provincial capital, have already been electrified.

He said the project commenced in 2012, adding that it is jointly being carried out by the LEC and the Ghana Electricity Cooperation (GEC).

Dahn added that the project has made available 150 modern streetlights for the beautification of Harper City.

He noted that residents have begun registering with the LEC in anticipation of restoring power to their homes.
