VOINJAMA, June 16 (LINA) -Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has urged the newly-inducted President and Board of Trustees of the Lofa County Community College (LCCC) not to encourage "tribalism, corrupt practices or divisiveness" in their administration of the institution.

He noted that tribalism, corruption and divisiveness are vices that have the propensity to divert the attention of the College from its main task of grooming "competent, disciplined and capable" leaders.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the Vice President urged the first Board of the institution to remain focused and be filled with love for the county and country, and to always uphold the ideals that gave birth to the LCCC.

“We must all together acknowledge the welcome reality that apart from striving to quench the thirst for post-secondary education in this northern part of the country, this college exudes the potential of ably casting itself as that magnet that will continue to attract young career seekers,” VP Boakai said.

Ambassador Boakai made the remarks Monday when he inducted the President and Board of Trustees of the Lofa County Community College in Voinjama City, Lofa County.

He reminded the Board to be "focused in guiding the direction and enriching the management and administration of the institution," noting that it has to convince itself that the college is playing its role in imparting knowledge and sharing the character of the generation that this nation counts on for continuity.

The Vice President said the Government has no doubt that notwithstanding the enormous challenges that may lie in its path, the Lofa County Community College is destined to emerge as "strong and vibrant."

The President of the LCCC was inaugurated in keeping with Article 4, section 1 of the charter of the LCCC which provides that the visitor of the LCCC shall nominate the president of the LCC for approval by the Board of Trustees and duly confirmed by the President of the Republic of Liberia.
