He is also recommending a national conference of educators and national and international stakeholders to look at problems caused by teenage pregnancy and to come up with long-term solutions.
He made the statement in his keynote address at the 23rd graduation exercises of the Grace Assembly of God High School located in New Georgia Community in Gardnersville Township held at the Philadelphia Church over the weekend.
Fahnbulleh pointed out that teenage pregnancy is one of the most alarming issues in the education sector, as many teenagers engage into sexual activities due to peer pressure.
Fahnbulleh also attributed the alarming rate of teenage pregnancy to rebelliousness which, according to him, has been proven through research findings.
He further said young girls have adopted a strong resistance to standards set by their parents on grounds that such ideas have got no place in the modern era.
According to Fahnbulleh, the Liberia Demographic and Health Survey shows a pregnancy rate of 38 percent among girls, adding, “The report also indicates that of this percentage, 21 percent are girls between the ages 15 to 19, who die while giving birth.
