NEC County Magistrate David Logan told the Liberia News Agency that the extension stems from persistent appeals from citizens of the county to NEC.
He said that after the completion of the first exercise, which ran from July 7-12, most of the citizens could not meet that deadline, prompting the decision to extend the exercise.
Magistrate Logan said that the extension exercise will only be done at NEC’s sub- office at the Fairground in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
He said the late comers will pay into government revenue an amount of L$5.00, obtain a flag receipt and proceed to NEC local office for replacement of their cards as contained in the New Elections Laws of 1986 Section 3.5, sub-section 2.
Logan further disclosed that a little over 2,500 lost or damaged cards were replaced during the first exercise and Bassa High School center registered the highest lost voter card replacement.
Grand Bassa County has a total of 176 polling stations.
