MONROVIA, July 20 (LINA) -The Chairperson of the Constitution Review Committee (CRC), Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, has said that the CRC remains committed to ensuring that its mandate is fully executed.

She said the Committee has arranged several public discourses and debates on provisions of the Liberian Constitution to get the views of the Liberian people on what they want the revised organic law to be when endorsed at a referendum.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Counselor Scott made the statement Friday at her Old road office in an interview with reporters on the update of CRC activities.

The CRC Chairperson also explained that in line with the national policy on decentralization and local governance, the establishment of positions of principal officers, as well as other public sector reforms that can only be fully implemented through constitutional amendment, also remains paramount to the Committee.

She disclosed that the Constitution review process has identified other provisions such as, the tenures of the President, Vice President, Justices, Legislators and Judges to be determined by the people whether they require amendment.

Scott indicated that the CRC will work with the National Elections Commission (NEC) in ensuring the conduct of a national referendum on proposals for amendment to the Liberian Constitution.
