Driver, 32, Charged With Reckless Driving Resulting To Death

GBARNGA, July 22 (LINA) - The Traffic Department of the Bong County Detachment of the Liberia National Police has charged driver Baccus Marmay, 32, with reckless driving resulting to death and sent him to the Gbarnga Magisterial Court for prosecution.

 

The charge is in consonance with section 10.4 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of Liberia.

According to the police report dated Saturday, July 19, driver Marmay, who was driving a Pick-up marked LESSP-4, traveling from Lofa County to Gbarnga, recklessly hit Deacon Albert M. Hegbee, a resident of the Lofa Road Community, near Gbarnga.

The report said Deacon Hegbee was crossing the road when Mamay ran into him and struck him to the ground.

Deacon Hegbee, who sustained serious injuries to the head and other parts of his body, was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors at the C.B. Dumbar Hospital.

Marmay, who drives for Win-Rock Liberia Energy Sector Support Program, has been detained at the Gbarnga Central Prison pending trial.
