HARPER, July 23 (LINA) -The Harper City Corporation in Maryland County has fined ten residents L$1,000 each for violating city ordinances. The ten reportedly allowed their cattle to roam the streets of the city destroying foods crops belonging to other residents and defecating in the streets.

The sanitation officer of the corporation, Isaac Wiah, told the Liberia News Agency recently in Harper that residents of the city have been told to fence-in their cattle so as to give the city a facelift, but that the order has not been adhered to.

He said the campaign to fine violators will continue until Harper, referred to as “city of pigs” is given a complete facelift.

He said those fined will be sent to court for prosecution if they fail to pay the fines.
