In a letter to the station Manager William Quire, Mr. Taikerweyah said he was resigning due to his active involvement in politics to avoid conflict of interest.
Taikerweyah currently serves as head of the Friends of Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa, a pro-political group campaigning for Dr. Tokpa’s election in the October 14, 2014 Mid-term Senatorial Election.
He noted in his letter dated July 25, that unless he resigns his post as the station’s board chair, the credibility and independence of the station would be questioned, thus diminishing public trust in it.
In response to the resignation letter, the Radio Gbarnga Station Manager thanked Mr. Taikerweyah for his contributions and commitment to the sustenance of the station during difficult times.
Radio Gbarnga recently gained regional status when it installed a new transmitter that enables it to cover Bong, Lofa, Margibi and parts of Bassa, Montserrado and Gbarpolu Counties.
