GBARNGA, July 28 (LINA) –Bong County Legislative Caucus Chairman Henry W. Yallah and Representative Edward Kafia have called for the redirection of some of the county’s resources to the fight against the deadly Ebola Virus in the county.

Chairman Yallah said unless the rightful measures are put in place to contain the virus, many citizens would be victimized by the killer disease.

Addressing journalists on Monday, July 28 following a stakeholder’s meeting on Ebola awareness, Senator Yallah promised to collaborate with the requisite Government institutions to have some of the County and Social Development Funds directed towards the fight against the Ebola virus.

He expressed shock and dismay over the growing number of deaths from the Ebola disease within a very short period of time, and called for urgent steps to address the situation.

He said the Ebola outbreak is saddening, and called on citizens to graduate from the stage of denial and myth and face reality so that their lives would be safe.

“This is no time for denial and politics but rather the time to jointly fight this deadly disease no matter our socio-economic and political connections as this disease does not distinguish the poor from the rich nor does it know the godly from the ungodly,” he emphasized.

The Ebola virus has since March this year killed more than 129 people in Liberia including two medical doctors and about 17 nurses.

The meeting organized by the County Health Team brought together commissioners, women and youth groups as well as civil society organizations including international partners of the health ministry.
