Mr. Samuel Y. Johnson observed that this is necessary to prevent bodily contact which will lead to the rapid spread of the disease.
Addressing a press conference at the association’s head office on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Mr. Johnson pledged the association’s full support for preventive measures put in place by the Government of Liberia.
He said he was confident that they would help contain the deadly Ebola virus in the country.
The NTAL Secretary General is however calling on authorities of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to do more in sensitizing the Liberian public about the existence of Ebola and the danger the epidemic poses.
The NTAL Secretary General also wants Ebola prevention messages to be broadcast in the various vernaculars to ensure that these messages are fully understood by all.
Mr. Johnson also stressed the need for the holding of periodic workshops at medical centers across the country to train health workers on how to handle suspected Ebola patients.
Meanwhile, Mr. Johnson is appealing to donor agencies and international partners to help the Ministry of Health with protective materials that would help to save lives in this critical period in the country’s history.
He expressed regret over the number of Ebola deaths in Liberia, adding that something must be done urgently curtail this.
The outbreak of the Ebola virus in Liberia in March has created fear among citizens and foreign residents.
It has also resulted in many Government employees, including health workers, refusing to go to work.
