One of the affected persons, Madam Cynthia Wolue, told the Liberia News Agency Monday that the erosion started about 4:00 a.m. and washed away her six-bedroom house.

Madam Wolue said two of her children sustained injuries as a result of the erosion.

She lamented that her family currently has nowhere to stay, especially in the face of the quarantine of the community to contain the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.

“For the past six days now we cannot go anywhere because we have been quarantined by the government,” she said.

Madam Wolue also lamented that the children currently have no food and water to live on, and appealed to government to come to their aid.

Another resident, Mr. Augustine Pajibo, said residents of West Point are peaceful citizens, and that they are willing to ensure that law and order prevails in the township.

“We told our children to exercise patience as the government handles the Ebola crises in our country,” Pajibo said.

He disclosed that District 13 Representative Saah Joseph has donated 200 bags of rice as well as water, adding that Oxfam also provided some food for them while residents wait for the lifting of the quarantine.
