“As for us, we do not hesitate to say that we will leave no stone unturned in not only getting rid of Ebola, but in pursuing our efforts so as to return to normalcy,” Gnassingbe said.
 
He made the statement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia when he and the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Kadre Desire Ouedraogo, paid a one-day solidarity visit to Liberia Friday.
 
“In periods such as these we have to get up early and work so that all of our efforts combined in the reconstruction process can be more efficient and to the point,” Gnassingbe stressed.
 
Gnassingbe, who was recently appointed as ECOWAS Coordinator for Response to the Ebola Crisis, recounted when the world news was dominated by the Ebola crisis in Liberia and other parts of West Africa, adding: “Everyone was predicting that the worse was about to happen.”
 
He then lauded President Sirleaf, the people of Liberia as well as partners who continue to provide support to Liberia during the health crisis.
 
Earlier, President Sirleaf welcomed the Togolese leader and expressed gratitude to ECOWAS and all partners for assistance they continue to render Liberia during the Ebola crisis.
 
She said that the difficulties that Liberia faced in the past has subsided considerably and there is hope that the country can resume normal development activities.
