Addressing the regular MICAT press briefing Tuesday on Capitol Hill, Zaizay noted that of the 47 entry points, only the Bo-Waterside border post in Grand Cape Mount County has the requirements for quality performance.
 
He said these include electricity, vehicles and office infrastructure and supplies, commending the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) for providing some of these facilities.

He said UNIML last year provided 34 motorbikes and six vehicles to the Bureau, but noted that some of these vehicles are now damaged and need to be replaced.

He named lack of electricity, vehicles and standardized infrastructure, among others, as some of the facilities absent at the other 46 border posts.

According to the Deputy BIN Commissioner, Liberia has 176 porous border crossing points with Guinea, Ivory Coast and Serra Leone, but pointed out that only 47 of these border points are manned by officers of the BIN.

He said the country’s four sea ports and only international airport are, however, effectively manned by the joint security, which includes officers of the BIN.
