MONROVIA, March 6 (LINA) - One of 10 suspects on trial at the Criminal Court “C” at the Temple of Justice for alleged economic sabotage and bribery has filed a motion to submit a new bond.

Albert Chie, through his counsel, said Thursday the motion was to withdraw the original criminal appearance bond and replace it with a new bond in the amount of US$125,000 from the Omega Insurance Company as his surety.

He explained that the motion is based on the provisions of Section 63.9 of the Civil Procedure Law which provides for the filing of a new bond.

Chie along with nine others was in February 2015 indicted by State Prosecutors on charges of economic sabotage, bribery, intimidation and conspiracy in a case involving some members of the erstwhile Board of Directors of the National Oil Company of Liberia.

Meanwhile, arguments into the motion by both the prosecutors and the defense will be heard on a date to be announced by Judge Peter Gbenewelleh.
