Ngafuan Heads Delegation At 3rd Quadripartite Meeting

MONROVIA, March 9 (LINA) -Foreign Minister Augustine Ngafuan at the head of a government delegation is in La Cote d'Ivoire is attending the 3rd Quadripartite Meeting involving Liberia and La Cote d'Ivoire and UN missions in the two countries.


 
The missions are the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and United Nations Operations in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI).
 
According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs release, the 3rd Quadripartite Meeting is focused on the thematic areas of Justice and Security; Peace and Reconciliation; Humanitarian, Political and Diplomatic issues.
 
The release further indicated that the meeting will take stock of progress made on security, humanitarian, and peace building measures as agreed in the Communiqué of its 2nd sitting in Monrovia on April 5, 2013.
 
It will also seek to strengthen mechanisms for information sharing and confidence building among communities along the border of the two countries.
 
It can be recalled that the Quadripartite meeting was organized to address security concerns along the Liberian-Ivorian border following a June 8, 2012 attack which claimed the lives of seven military officers of UNOCI, one Ivorian military officer and 10 Ivorian civilians.
 
Other members of the Liberian Government delegation are Mr. Morris Dukuly, Minister of Internal Affairs; Dr. Henry B. Fahnbulleh, National Security Advisor; St. Jerome Larbelee, Deputy Minister of Defense for Operations and Cllr. Wheatonia Dixon Barnes, Deputy Minister of Justice for Administration.
 
Others are Abla Williams, Executive Director LRRRC; Robert Budy, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration; Abraham Kromah, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Operations and representatives of other government agencies.
