Making the disclosure Thursday in an interview with the Liberia News Agency, Deputy Auditor General Winsley S. Nanka said 14 procurement audits will be conducted in key ministries and agencies as well as the National Legislature and Judiciary.
He noted that the 14 audits will not include the corruption allegation involving Speaker J. Alex Tyler and others, but will only focus on procurement matters of those institutions to be audited.
“We slowed down on audit during the Ebola crisis for the safety of our staff and those to be audited, and now that the situation is calmer, we have earmarked 60 new audits to be conducted,” said Nanka.
According to him, the 14 procurement audits are part of the 60 earmarked following a risk-based determination by the commission.
He promised to make public the findings of the audits upon completion, but vowed not to disclose details of the targeted institutions before the audit starts.
Meanwhile, the GAC says it conducted 22 audits in 2014 and is committed to serving the Liberian people through the continuous conduct of audits.
Since 2008 GAC has conducted over 105 audits, he said.
