New Direction of the AFL

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Commander -in- Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia says the government and partners remain committed toward the professional development of the army.

She said she will request the National Legislature to make additional budgetary appropriations for the  continual  development of the army, as well as to enable servicemen to  continue to contribute to the reconstruction and development drive of Liberia.

She said the focus of her government and its partners, relative to the army, remains the enhancement of its professional capability, to enable it amply respond to humanitarian and disaster relief situations.

The Liberian leader said this requires the further professional training of the personnel of the army.
