(LINA) – The Ministry of Information has clarified that the Government of the United States did not send a representative to Liberia to confirm the identity of the late Atty. Michael Allison as reported in the media Wednesday.

News reports quoted Justice Minister Benedict Sannoh as saying the Americans had confirmed the identity of Allison who was found to be an American citizen during a probe into his death.
The ministry said the American referred to during Minister Sannoh’s press conference was one of the two pathologists who performed separate autopsies on the body of Allison.

Attorney General Sannoh disclosed that the name Michael Allison was a fake identity that was being used by the late lawyer whose actual name is Nkrumah Mozia Madin Mulmi, an American citizen born in 1967 in the Bahamas.
Sannoh told journalists that the actual identity of the late Allison was discovered during the period of investigation surrounding his death, when they found two passports bearing his picture and name Nkrumah Mozia Madin Mulmin, which traces him to being an American.
The Attorney General noted that the actual name and identity of the late Allison was further confirmed from his finger prints which corresponded with those in the passports, indicating that the name Allison was purported.

He said the Government of Liberia, based on reports from the qualified medical experts who conducted the autopsies, all investigation into the death is closed, and that there will be no charges or indictment against anyone.

It can be recalled that on February 12, 2015, the body of Atty. Allison, who played a consultancy role at the National Oil Company of Liberia, was discovered on a beach in Monrovia.

Suspicion of foul play emanating from the public led to the hiring of the two pathologists whose subsequent autopsy reports said that Allison died as the result of drowning in salt water.
