(LINA) – The Petroleum Importers Association of Liberia (PIAL) has lauded the Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), T. Nelson Williams and the Board of Directors for supporting Liberian petroleum importers.

According to PIAL, the initiative has challenged importers to play a meaningful role in ensuring that the crucial and political commodity is on the market.

It noted that the “impeccable and astute leadership” of Williams backed by the Board has increased the number of Liberian oil importers, many of whom are making huge investments in the oil business.

Addressing an honoring and certification program of Williams in the Training Hall of LPRC recently, PIAL acting President Musa Bility thanked President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for putting together a management team and board at LPRC which are addressing the needs of not only consumers but also the importers of petrol products.

The importers noted that since 1947 when the facility was constructed, Williams’ administration has so far been able to alleviate storage constraints at the entity.

For his part, Managing Director Williams said he was overwhelming by the honor but added that it has renewed his resolve to go beyond the call of duty.

He promised to ensure the decentralization of petroleum sector beginning with the rehabilitation and expansion of the Ganta Oil Terminal.

Williams was presented a certificate signed by both Liberian and international petroleum importers, including Srimex, Aminata, MOTC, West Oil and Total Liberia, among others.
