GSA Director-General Mary T. Broh noted that misuse of government vehicles has increased to an unacceptable level at significant cost to tax-payers.
She made the statement Thursday at the Ministry of Information daily press conference in Monrovia.
“As a result, an official fleet management policy was developed in 2009 to provide guidance to Government institutions on the procurement, registration, use, maintenance and management of vehicles in the country,” Broh noted.
According to her, the fundamental objective of the fleet policy is to provide a strategic framework for reducing capital, maintenance and running costs of government fleet and mobile equipment while ensuring mobility and operational efficiency of government employees.
She added that another objective is to establish uniform practices for use of GOL vehicles, project, rental and leased vehicles to make sure that these government properties are used for the intended purposes.
