Coordinator William Y. Bull disclosed that with support from the World Bank, the Liberian Government in collaboration with the West African Regional Fisheries Program (WARFP-LIBERIA) has constructed a Fish Landing Cluster in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount Country.

Coordinator Bull made the disclosure Thursday in an interview with Liberia News Agency on the margins of the validation workshop on enterprise development plan report for the fish landing cluster at Robertsport held at a local hotel in Monrovia.

He indicated that the fish landing cluster pilot project is intended to add value to the fishing industry in Liberia, as well as encourage local and international investors to infuse capital into the country’s marine sector.

He explained that the fish landing cluster is a pilot project comprising storage and processing plant intended to process fish for export to Europe, America and other parts of the world.

Coordinator Bull disclosed that the Liberian Government has provided US$1.6 million for the project apart from the World Bank funding, and that it is expected to be completed in December 2015.

He then called on Liberians to develop interest in the fishing industry which, he said, is a major sector that can generate revenue to strengthen Liberia’s economic growth, noting that the marine sector is a new frontier for multi–national investors.
