TUBMANBURG, April 24 (LINA) -The Principal of the C. H. Dewey Central High School in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, Mr. Victor Freeman, has said the deplorable condition of latrines and lack of safe drinking water on the school’s campus are hindering academic activities.

Principal Freeman said the three water tanks constructed by the AU/ASEOWA Quick Impact Project are presently out of water.

He said each of the tanks has a capacity of 1,000 gallons and was brought by the AU/ ASEOWA from Monrovia.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency (LINA) on Thursday in Tubmanburg, Freeman noted that Plan Liberia has completed the rehabilitation of one of the three damaged pumps on the campus, with plans to rehabilitate the remaining two pumps.

Freeman said the school’s toilets, including the two thast are in working condition, are deplorable and pose serious health and sanitation problem on the campus.

According to him, the 36 teachers and the over 500 students cannot continue to use the two toilets under such deplorable condition.

Meanwhile, Principal Freeman is appealing to the government and partners to help provide safe drinking water from Monrovia to refill the three tanks and recondition the latrines and pumps for the school.
